MISA Research Grant Application MISA Data Library
BACKGROUNDMISA (Managing Information for Student Achievement) is a ministry initiative with the intent to increase both provincial and local capacity to work with data and information to support improved student outcomes. Increased capacity in the key areas of Data Management, Human Resources and Technology will enhance the capacity of teachers, principals and board staff to work with data in support of student achievement. In order to support the implementation of MISA, the ministry has established seven Professional Network Centres across the province; six regional and one French-language centre. The MISA Professional Network Centres are intended to function as linked professional learning communities and will complement the efforts of individual boards and schools. The Centres will assist in building capacity to work with data in support of evidence-informed decision-making.The vision of the Thunder Bay Region's Professional Network Centre is defined as follows: "We will be a centre that promotes, through collaborative process and effective communication, the importance of embedding a data driven culture to improve student achievement throughout our member boards, school authorities, their schools and classroom teachers. We will have strong links to the Research community to assist us in our endeavor to effectively use data to improve student achievement.
We strive to be an influential Learning Community that promotes the development and exchange of ideas, sharing of best practices and resources to elevate critical thinking at all levels to manage, analyze and interpret data to support and improve student achievement". |
